About Us
IrishBuses.ie is dedicated to showcasing and promoting Ireland’s transportation heritage.
Preserved buses in Ireland offer a tangible connection to the past. They are rolling reminders of the engineering innovation of their time, as well as the social fabric of the communities they served.
Through the work of enthusiasts and preservationists across the country, this piece of the story of Irish road transport lives on — not only in photographs and memories, but in the careful restoration, operation and display of the
vehicles themselves.

The buses are owned by private owners, this website doesn’t represent any one owner or collective but acts as a showcase for all Irish buses in preservation
Ireland had a strong tradition of building buses to suit its own unique operational needs. These vehicles were uniquely Irish in design, unlike anything else available on the wider market, which is why such a strong emphasis is placed on preserving them today.
More modern “off-the-shelf” vehicles that later operated in Ireland have also begun to enter preservation in recent years, ensuring that every era of Irish bus history is represented.
It’s up to the individual owners interests as to what they preserve and restore. Most of the buses would indeed be Irish or have an Irish connection. Other vehicles preserved in Ireland include iconic London Routemasters and GM New Look “Fishbowl” buses.
Unfortunately not. Most preserved buses are kept on private property and aren’t available for public display outside of organised events. The National Transport Museum does have a number of preserved buses on public display.
